PRESIDENT'S
CORNER
APRIL
2003
The
2003 season is about to begin and field clean up day is scheduled for April 19,
a Saturday. Bring a rake, a hammer,
a strong back, a willingness to paint, wire brush, or anything your heart may
desire and we will get our field in great shape for the commencement of our
flying season. Bring something to
fly also as it should be a good day for flying once we have the field polished
up to everyone's satisfaction.
We
have a great season planned with the NENATS scheduled for June 14th.
This should be the biggest turnout yet and it is an exciting event to get
involved with as a participant, a judge, cook, or spectator.
This year I have built a JK Aerotech MIG 3 powered by a Norvel Big
Mig, and if it survives the test flight and training flights I plan on being a
COMBAT FLYER. This is a foamy in
every sense of the word. Pink foam,
packing tape and building stuff I never used before results in a very ugly but
very strong
Airplane.
Give it a try, the cost is low, the building time is short (about 30
hours for #1 and 20 thereafter). The
entire setup costs about $200.00, and if it flies inversely proportional to its
looks, it should be an outstanding airplane and loads of fun to fly.
If
you cannot make the combat event then don’t miss the Berringer on June 28th
and 29th, it was excellent last year and this year should be even
better. Bring out your War birds,
or Scale Models and join in the festivities.
Lots of gorgeous airplanes and lots of good flying await you.
Don’t
hesitate this year to get involved and volunteer to help out or participate in
one or all of our seven events this year. This
is what makes our club great and keeps us active, visible and involved with our
communities. You will also pick up
lots of good tips and meet neat people for other clubs around the State.
Until Next time, Good Flying,
Fred
