It
is amazing to realize another year has passed and we are ready to
celebrate the December holidays. 2003
was a good year for our club with many events and decent participation
considering the lousy weather we fought all year.
Many new members, new checked out pilots jnoined us this year,
and some of our older members found new capability with improved vision,
truly a blessing.
This being my last message as President of our club, I want to ask all
of you to support your new officiers to enhance our clubr, to improve
our events, and to expand the pleasure our great hobby brings to all
ages and generations. It is
really our task to spread the word and help young people, many without
direction, find a rudder to steer their way to a full llife and to
become beacons & leaders of
our society.
We should form commitees for each event who take the total
responsibility to make each event the best it can be.
We have one of the finest fields in
Connecticut
, with many
excellent flyers and instructors. We
have a broad range of interests in our membership ranging from Electric
power to Helicopters. We
have all of the resources regarding skills and abilities, all we need it
greater participation and the desire to be the best club and greatest
advocate for Model aviation in
New England
.
I want to thank you for
the support you have given me during my 3 years as your President and
hope you all agree we have accomplished a great deal.
A special thanks to
Ron
Czikowsky
who has truly helped to build
up our treasury, to
Diane
Carpio
who has spent 3 years as our
Secretary and 2 as our Newsletter editor, without her we would still be
floundering with no controls or organization of our records.
Jack
Holmgren
has been an excellent field
marshal and believe it or not he has volunteered to do it again.
Jack
,
Ron
, &
Bernie
Liskov
, keep our equipment running
and because of that we now have a grass field approaching the looks of a
golf green. A special thanks
to
Charlie
Lewis
for hosting our e-mail
newsletter on his website,
and to
Rich
Ippolito
for his excellent work making
the site user friendly and interesting.
Many of you have contributed in countless ways and I offer you my
heartfelt thanks for all of your help and support.
I know your new staff, Lou Carpio, President, Dennis Duplice, VP,
Ron Czikowsky, treasurer, Brian Jolicoeur, Secretary, Jack Holmgren,
Field marshal, Tom Vernon, Safety Officer, our new board members, mark
Rice, & Paul Franciosi will serve us well and with the help of
Rich Ippolito
, I will do my best to provide
you with a good newsletter. We
will mail copies to those of you who request them during 2004.
I for one am looking forward to seeing some models of the month come to
the meeting next year., so start your winter projects and bring in your
handy work to show off.
Fill out your application forms for your 2004 membership and come to the
meetings. With a good
turnout, more can be accomplished and our club will improve at a more
rapid pace.
I send prayers and wishes for good health to all of you, a successful
outcome in the
Middle East
, and most importantly peace on
earth in our life times.
Good
Flying,
Fred
