of the July, 21st 2004 Meeting
The
July 21st, 2004
Meeting of the RC Propbusters was called to order at
8:05pm
16 members present
Treasurer’s report was read by Ron Czikowsky and was
accepted as read.
Old
Business:
Sign: Fred
reported that he and Jack and Holmgren visited several sign manufacturers and
discussed several options for the club. Fred
also had a copy of what the new sign will look like.
A motion was made to have the sign made for was passed.
Fred will order the sign and Tom Vernon and Fred will mount the sign at
the entryway of the
Salem
field.
Flying Sites: Fred
stated that there were no updates on new possible flying sites.
Discussions regarding the
Groton
landfill and the old Groton Cranberry Patch were held as these sites are still
in contention. Fred will continue to
work on these fields and will report back to us.
Field Maintenance: Grub-X
was laid down on the field recently and should ensure the quality of the field
for the rest of the summer.
New
Business:
Electric Fly-in:
The electric fly is this coming weekend.
Fred
Reported that he has some great raffle prizes and we are expecting a great
turnout. Final preparations were
made for the event and the event should go smoothly with all of the volunteers.
Electrics have come very far in the past two years and its something that
everyone should check out!
Meeting Times:
The discussion of meeting times was revisited again at the July
meeting. Fred referenced past
discussions that outlined going to only 6 meetings a year on designated months.
There was a short discussion and this is a topic that will continue to be
discussed in the future. If the club
decides to make a change in meeting frequency, dates, and times, a by-law change
will be required.
Neighborhood Fly:
Trainers airplanes were arranged for buddy-box flying and
arrangements were made for the fly-in. A
motion was made for the club to purchase a trainer setup to raffle at the event
for people interested in learning to fly. Boy
Scout Troops were invited to the event and Fred will work on distributing flyers
and inviting the neighbors.
Model of the Month:
Les Haley brought in a Great Planes Stuka powered by an Evolution .61
two-stroke. Les reports that the
maiden went well and the plane flies excellent.
He also reported that he is very happy with the engine as it has been
running great and started on the first flip out of the box.
Nice job Les!
A motion was made to
adjourn the meeting. Motion so moved
and the July 21st Meeting of the RC Propbusters adjourned at
8:57pm
.
Respectfully Submitted,
John Banks IV - Secretary
Neighborhood Fun Fly Report:
The August 15th Neighborhood Fun Fly was a success; Mother Nature smiled
upon us. A special thanks to Mark Rice for organizing the Food, to Linda
Rice and Jeanne Czikowsky for cooking and making terrific Chili, and to all
the club members you helped make this a very successful event.
Thank you very much.
